Nestled amongst lush native bush behind a predator-proof fence in an eco-sanctuary, full of birdlife, including kiwi, on the stunning Rakiura Stewart Island, part of the southern-most Dark Sky Reserve.
You will have beautiful views of the native bush surrounding you, as well as magical views down to the bay below. You will be treated to beautiful sunsets, star-gazing and waking to a gentle chorus of birdsong and sunlight reflecting off the water below. You will also have the opportunity for kiwi spotting, right from the comfort of the PurePod, thanks to the special red lighting.
Your journey to the Tokoeka PurePod starts with either a scenic 15 minute flight from Invercargill, or a 60 minute ferry ride from Bluff. On arrival on the island, walk, hire a bike or get a taxi the remaining 4km to the entrance to the Mamaku Point Conservation Reserve.
From there, it is a short 275m nature walk to the PurePod - you'll pass through the predator-proof fence so make sure to take note of the signage to ensure you do your part to ensure the safety of the bird life in the reserve.
The PurePod has all the facilities you require including a fabulous shower, flush toilet, crisp linen, cooking and eating equipment including a gas hob and barbecue, tea, coffee and milk; as well as an assortment of games, local reference books, a telescope and a whole lot of nothing to do! So sit back, relax in the luxury camp chairs out on the deck, or laze about in the super comfortable bed and watch nature put on a show.
