Stewart Island - Rakiura Wilderness Retreat

Details

Check In: 15:00|Check Out: 11:45

Nestled amongst native bush behind a predator-proof fence in an eco-sanctuary on the stunning Rakiura Stewart Island, part of the southern-most Dark Sky Reserve.

You will have absolutely stunning views northwest across Lee Bay to the highest peak on the island. From beautiful sunsets, to kiwi spotting in the evening, star-gazing at night and waking to the sunshine twinkling on the sea below and a gentle chorus of birdsong, this is the perfect setting for you to relax in privacy and tranquility.

Your journey to the Hananui PurePod starts with either a scenic 15 minute flight from Invercargill, or a 60 minute ferry ride from Bluff. On arrival on the island, walk, hire a bike or get a taxi the remaining 4km to the entrance to the Mamaku Point Conservation Reserve.

From there, it is a short 200m nature walk to the PurePod - you'll pass through the predator-proof fence so make sure to take note of the signage to ensure you do your part to ensure the safety of the bird life in the reserve.

The PurePod has all the facilities you require including a fabulous shower, flush toilet, crisp linen, cooking and eating equipment including a gas hob and barbecue, tea, coffee and milk; as well as an assortment of games, local reference books, a telescope and a whole lot of nothing to do! So sit back, relax in the luxury camp chairs out on the deck, or laze about in the super comfortable bed and watch nature put on a show.
